Meet the Team

Our team are warm and friendly, always displaying a passion to work with children of all ages. We feel it’s a privilege for the trust to be placed in us to look after your children as you fulfil your daily routine.

All of our staff are not only DBS checked, but registered on the DBS Update Service. Regular checks are made to ensure full conformance to our safeguarding policies and to certify Safer Recruitment definitions within the Childcare sector.

A number of staff will always hold Paediatric First Aid certificates, another essential requirement to meet the highest standards of  service.

Mark

I started Brains and Games on the 9th January 2017 at Burleigh, where we started the club with five children on our first day. Since that day, I have cherished every minute, even though my background is well away from Childcare.

I spent close to thirty years working for various financial services and technology firms, delivering high quality services to clients. I aim to repeat that, and all else that I have learned in life, every day at Brains and Games. For the benefit of the children.

Donna

I joined Brains and Games in November 2023. My favourite this about my job is watching the children learn through play.

I love the daily laughter, curiosity and genuine happiness – it creates an environment of unique energy that can’t be found in any other career. This joy is also very contagious, making every day at after school club a delightful experience.

Tracey

I have worked at Burleigh since 2013 and am now Assistant Cook in the kitchen. I see most of the children when serving them their lunches and get to say hello, but since joining Brains and Games in 2023, I get to know the children more… I absolutely love it.

Whether it’s making something in arts and crafts, colouring, playing dodgeball, hula hooping with the girls or playing top trumps with the boys, it’s always fun.

Caitlin

I have been working at Burleigh since 2021 and loved every second of it. I started at the school as an MSA (Midday Supervisory Assistant) and have progressed to becoming a Teaching Assistant.

Since I was 18 I have been volunteering at a local scouting group where we do many of the same activities here at Brains and Games such as painting, colouring and outdoor games.

Lauren

I have worked at Brains and Games since November 2023. Both of my children have attended the club over the years and really enjoyed their time here. I love being part of the team and enjoy every minute of getting to know all of the children. The kids are great fun, I enjoy playing games and I’m even learning to play chess with one of the children.

I’ve always worked closely with children and families in former roles. In my late teens, I worked in childcare settings but most of my career has been within medical admin. I have also been a medical secretary for a child Psychologist.

Oya

I have worked in childcare in 2021 and have enjoyed every aspect of it and love watching children thrive in their learning and development across a range of ages.

I enjoy being a part of the team who help parents balance work and family commitments, whilst providing children with a secure and fun place to spend their time outside of school and also expand their social circle.

Kai

My name is Kai. I attend Hertfordshire Regional College studying level 3 sports and work at Brains and Games on Wednesday (and help out on other days if required.)

I hope to bring my experiences from college to Brains and Games and give your children a good start in sports. I have always wanted to work with children, thoroughly enjoy working with your all children and hope to further my career as a sports teacher.

Lucia

I joined Brains and Games in May 2024 and have been loving it ever since. Some of the children remember me as their ‘old Rocksteady teacher’, and it’s so great to see them again after my injury.

I’m enjoying working closely with some of the older students to develop their musical theatre, acting and drama skills! The talent in this school never fails to blow me away!
