What is wraparound care?
Well, that is a very good question – what is wraparound childcare? To most, the immediate thought is that this is a childcare need for busy working parents that aren’t finished in time for the school run. That commonly leads to a broader misconception that wraparound childcare is “not for me or my family”. You would be wrong.
The origins of wraparound stem from the Government enabling working parents to have a longer working day, earn more to add economic value to the country, and all in the knowledge that children could be taken care of safely and have fun.
So what’s the difference between wrapround, out of school childcare, primary school age childcare etc? In truth, nothing. All of this jargon is commonly used interchangeably. It would be easier to stick to specifics, such as after school club where this is clearly understandable, yet sits within these other commonly used phrases.
